OUR STORY

The story behind Rio Broadband has a much longer history than the name… Fred Tips, the owner and mastermind behind it all, was once working in the diamond business. As much as his wife loved that job for him, he felt passion for a more technologically savvy career. He started Carrera Communications in 1993, where he specialized in phone services for businesses.

Fred realized in 2005 that the way of the future was internet, so he sold Carrera and started Phoenix Broadband. With the new company, he focused solely on providing internet to rural Pleasanton. His son, Quatro, started working with him in 2011 and the duo really hit the ground running.

We pride ourselves on being a very family oriented business - now with both sons, Fred’s mother-in-law, and daughter-in-law working for the company. We value like all of our employees are family, and we hope they feel the same. Some have even been known to name their pets after us! Shoutout to Rhonda’s Rio the dog, and Joshua’s Phoenix the longhorn!

Fred and Quatro have grown the business to have multiple markets, and decided another rebrand was necessary. This allows them to streamline everything and to create more cohesive experience for all. That’s where we are now - the birth of Rio Broadband.

Are you the same company as Phoenix Broadband, 325 Internet, or 432 Internet?

Yes! We merged all of our companies to operate under one new name, Rio Broadband!

What package best suits me?

Give us a call and we will be happy to walk you through it based on your daily internet usage, streaming, and number of home occupants.

Do you require a contract?

No, our service is contract free! We decided to do away with contracts to allow our customers overall flexibility.

What fees are involved?

We have transparent up front pricing. The price you see is the price you pay!

What kind of services do you provide?

In most areas we provide a high speed fixed wireless connection with a managed router. We provide local support to our customers for any issues that may arise. Some areas are equipped for our new fiber service. Give us a call to check availability!

What equipment is provided?

We provide everything you need, including the radio and router.

What is involved in the installation process?

For our fixed wireless connection, we will equip your home with a radio that connects to our local tower. It will then be wired through your home to the provided router. The radio is typically attached to your roof or the eve of your home, but sometimes involves a mast.

Do you service my home or business?

What do I do if my service is down?

I’m sorry to hear your connection is giving you trouble! Please submit a support ticket using the “Billing / Support” above through your customer portal.

What do I do if I need to make a billing change?

Please update your billing info by logging in to in your customer portal by clicking the “Billing / Support” button above.

What if I want to bring fiber to my neighborhood?

We would love to hear about your interest in our new fiber service! Fill out or form above or give us a call so we can discuss availability. If there is enough interest, we may be able to build out to your area!
